Mannheim
Sehenswürdigkeiten in Deutschland
Mannheim wurde 1606 mit der Grundsteinlegung für die Festung
Friedrichsburg
gegründet. Das
kurpfälzische
Schloss
wurde ab 1720 erbaut und zählt zu den
größten barocken Schlössern Europas.
Heute kann es in Teilen besichtigt werden.
Mannheim verfügt über zwei
bedeutende Museen, das
Reiss-Engelhorn-Museum,
das heute aus mehreren Museen besteht
sowie die
Kunsthalle Mannheim,
die u.a. über eine hervorragende
Skulpturen-Sammlung verfügt.

Mannheim was founded in
1606 when construction works
started on Friedrichsburg fortress. The
palace of the Prince–Electors
of the
Palatine was built from 1720 until
1760 and is one of Europe’s biggest
Baroque
palaces. Today
parts of it can be visited and parts are used by the
University of
Mannheim.
Mannheim has two famous museums: the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums
and the
Kunsthalle Mannheim,
that has 19th and 20th century art and modern art
as well as an
excellent collection of sculptures. |
